ALAN LEE RICHARD Sr.

Carterville-Alan Lee Richard Sr. 69 received his angel wings on Wednesday March 5, 2025 at home.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday March 12, 2025 at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor William Newton officiating. Burial will be in the Barham Cemetery of Marion with graveside military rights conducted by the Marion V.F.W, American Legion and Navy Burial Honors Team. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M Wednesday at the funeral home.

Beloved husband of Becky Ann Richard. Thet were married on June 2, 1976 and celebrated 49 years of marriage.

He served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged January 1975.

Alan had a passion for auto mechanics. He had many different skills, abilities, and areas of knowledge. His academic achievements included multiple degrees and certificates from Southern Illinois University and John A. Logan Collage. He taught welding and worked many places where he utilized his skills, such as Transcraft and Autozone. Over the years he also kindly helped friends and family repair their vehicles.

A loving father of 2 daughters, 2 sons, 2 daughter's-in-law, 4 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. His children are April Lynn Calvert of Ozark, A.J. and Denise Richard of Carterville, Jason Richard of Carterville, Joseph and Angie Baker of Marion, and Jennifer Payne of Carterville; grandchildren are Jericka Calvert, Zacharia Calvert, Trinity Baker and Peyton Richard; great grand children are Maddie Biggs, Millia Biggs, Mazielynn Calvert and Grayson Baker; siblings are Mickey Richard and wife Pam of Pittsburg, Kenny and Debbie Richard of Johnston City, Carol Melcher of Marion, and Tracy and Daren Roach of Johnston City.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Babara and Jack Ray Richard; siblings, Gary Richard and Cathy Richard; and beloved granddaughter, Emilia Calvert.

In life Alan's most valuable possessions was always his family. He dedicated his life to all his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. The love he had for them was unmeasurable.
