ALBIN VATOVEC
Cahokia-Albin Vatovec, 93, passed way in his sleep and entered the gates of heaven at his home at 'Morningside of Shiloh' on May 3, 2017. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Roberta Vatovec née Herron, his parents Anton and Jenny, two brothers Edward and William.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Cheryl (David) Fair, Joni (David) Scrivner, his brother Tony (Barbara) Vatovec; Grandchildren, David (Carrie), Joe, Robert (Jenny), Tracy, Jamie (John), Alex (Ellen), Ashley (Jaime); Great Grandchildren, Jessica, Bobby, Jake, Raven, Damian, Mannie, Elizabeth, Nicholas, Shelby, Madi, Gavin, Grayson, Caden, Kelsey, Addison; Great-Great Grand Daughter Kira and various nieces and nephews.
He served in the Army from 1943 to 1945 and is a veteran of World War II. He enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals as well as the Chicago Cubs play baseball and discussing the games. He also was an avid golfer.
Visitation will be Friday May 5th, from 6-8 PM at the Murman and Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City, Illinois. Memorial service will be at 10 AM Saturday, May 6 with Msgr. Thomas Flach officiating with burial at Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City with graveside military honors conducted by the Marion V.F.W., American Legion, and Illinois Army National Guard.
