ALICE CORA "AUNTIE ALLY" HENSLEY

Johnston City-Alice Cora "Auntie Ally" Hensley 53 of Johnston City passed away on Tuesday April 24, 2012 at 2:25 P.M. at her family home.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday April 29, 2012 at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Larry Litton and Pastor Furney Revels officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City.

Memorials may be made to the School for Hearing Impaired in Marion. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Alice was born on April 16, 1959 in Chicago the daughter of Gatha Campbell and Bessie (Linville) Davis. She married Larry Hensley. He survives.

She was known as a great humanitarian and caregiver all of her life. She graduated at Marion High School through the School of Hearing Impaired. She went on for 10 years working as a nurse after taking college courses at John A. Logan. She work at Marion Memorial Hospital for 5 years then she moved back to Chicago working for 5 years at Raven Rest Nursing Home until an accident happened at work causing her to be disabled. Throughout her life she struggled with many medical complications. None of this stopped her from loving life and doing what she wanted. She met the love of her life Larry Hensley and got married then received her wish of having her own children and becoming a very happy homemaker and having the freedom and privilege to be a care giver and help others. She went on to be the first woman member of Carterville Lions Club, past president of School of Hearing Impaired P.T.A. and member of the Autism Society. She volunteered at Washington School in Johnston City. She loved teaching and taking care of her children and family. She attended the Church of God of Prophecy.

She is survived by her mother of Johnston City; five children, Angela Collier and husband Chris, Charlie Hensley, Elizabeth Hensley, Tim Hensley, and Jason Hensley; and two grandchildren, Joshua Vaughn and Strife Collier; four brothers, Conley Campbell, Leo Davis, Louis Davis, and Ralph Davis Jr.; four sisters, Leona Jurincie, Julie Williams, Marty Flatt, and Elizabeth Pugh; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by both of her fathers; Gatha Campbell and Ralph J. Davis Sr.; and a brother, Michael Davis.
