ALLISON D. TAYLOR

Marion-Allison D. Taylor, 60, died at 12:50 P.M. on Sunday, January 16, 2011 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.

Allison was born on September 19, 1950, the son of Guy Joseph and Alberta Mae (Jones) Taylor.

Allison was the Director of the State Department of Specialized Care for Children. He was a registered nurse at Marion Memorial Hospital for 17 years. He attended Ferges Free Methodist Church. He graduated from Johnston City High School in 1968. He also graduated summa cum laude with honors from Deaconess School of Nursing where he maintained a 4.0 average. He was also the speaker for his nursing school graduating class. He was a volunteer for Hospice of Southern Illinois and the Lighthouse Homeless Shelter.

He is survived by four children; Tyson Taylor and wife Bobbi of Marion, Ben Taylor and wife Lara of Creal Springs, J. D. Barter and wife Danielle of Marion, and Sherry Hamlin and husband David of Marion; six grandchildren; Laney and Blaine Taylor, Joel and Johnna Barter, Levi and Jake Hamlin, and one granddaughter expected in April; two step-grandsons; Justin and Jeremy Hamlin; one brother, Joel Taylor and wife Mary Ann of Marion; two nieces, Rhonda Briscoe and husband Eric of Marion, Sarah Swaine and husband Jacob of Marion; one nephew, Seth Taylor of Marion; one great-nephew Ben Briscoe of Marion and many loved aunts, uncles and cousins.

Allison is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Marsha Owens.

Services will be held at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home of Johnston City on Thursday January 20, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Ted Cunningham officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery of Johnston City.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
