ALMA AULINE GRANT

Ferges-Alma Auline (Smith) Grant passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family, at 8:20 AM, Tuesday July 2, 2013. Today our mom is singing in Heaven.
Services will be at 11 AM Saturday, July 6th at Murman and Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City, Illinois. With the Reverend Michael Mayfield officiating. Burial will be in the Herrin City Cemetary. Visitation time will be 5 to 8 pm. Friday.
In Lieu of flowers the family ask you make donations to Hospice of Southern Illinois or the First United Methodist Church Food Pantry. (Johnston City)
Alma was born October 1, 1924 in Johnston City, Illinois, the daughter of the late Ernest Smith and Opal (Tolbert) smith.
Alma married Horace Dent Grant September 14, 1941 . Dent preceded her in death. December 10th 2012. They spent 71 years together.
Alma worked at Smoler Bros Inc. , in Herrin Illinois for 19 years . Alma was a very caring and giving person. She shared her love for helping others working in nursing homes as a Kitchen Manager. Her last place of work was at the "Fathers Heart Ministry" Johnston City, Il which she dearly loved watching the ladies. She worked there for 13 years.
Alma attended the First United Methodist Church of Johnston city, Il.
She is survived by five daughters, Nancy Montgomery (Jack) of Johnston City,. Sandra Goddard (Maynard) of Benton , Donna Curry (Bob) of Johnston City Illinois, Janice Holloway, Harrisburg, and Denise Ryan of Herrin. 12 Grandchildren, Michael Montgomery, (Caroline) Brett (Linnie) Montgomery, Debbie Barnhart (Lewis) , John Goddard (Krista) , Janine Curry, Chad Curry, Jeff Moore, Jaimie Harner Keelan Holloway, Kyle Ryan, Nicole Ryan, Tyler Ryan, 12 great-grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Six sisters, Bonnie Kinley, Patsy Anderson, Marylin Durham, Dorothy Thompson, Carolyn Grant, and Cynthia Huegen. And several nieces and nephews.
She was preceeded in death by two brothers, Laverne Smith, Herbert (the boy) Smith, and one very special grandson, Bobby Curry.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Southern Illinois, and a very special care giver, Cathy Beegle.
