ANN MARIE SMITH

Marion- Ann Marie Beckman Smith, 77, entered into Our Heavenly Fathers pearly gates on August 25, 2016. She was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer in March 2016. She passed away peacefully at home with family.

Ann was born in New Douglas Illinois on October 16, 1938 to Velma and Emmett Beckman. She has one older brother Dean Beckman. She attended Thompsonville HS and one year of college at SIU before marrying Donald Ray Smith on November 24, 1957. He preceded her in death on April 25, 2009. Ann was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marion since 2005. Ann was a devoted daughter, loving mother, caring grandmother and great-grandmother as well as a loyal sister, aunt, cousin, niece and friend to many people. She retired from Caterpillar Tractor in Joliet in March 1996 after 30 years of service. After retirement she enjoyed life by traveling the world, square dancing, playing Bridge, camping & fishing and she volunteered at the Marion Senior Center.

Ann Smith leaves behind her three children, daughter Connie Ann Smith of Cache, OK, son Ray Dean Smith & wife Charlene of New Lenox, and son Tony Eugene Smith of Wilmington; five grandchildren, JoEllen Analla of Cache, OK; Dean Smith & wife Serena of Channahon; Nikki Smith Lopez and husband Mike of Minooka; Zackary Smith of Long Beach, Ca; Kylie Smith of Joliet; four great grandchildren Leyton, Keyrstin, Jessey Analla of Cache, OK and Makayla Lopez of Minooka; one brother Dean Beckman of Meridianville, AL. She is preceded in death by her parents, Velma and Emmett Beckman.

A memorial service will be held at Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City on Saturday September 3, 2016 at 10 A.M. with burial at Friendship Cemetery in Dongola.
