BARBARA "KEE" VATOVEC
Johnston City- Barbara "Kee" Vatovec 76 passed away at 2:10 A.M. Monday August 18, 2025 at home.
Barbara was born on February 25, 1949 in Johnston City. She is the daughter of Orville and Imogene (Porter) Kee. She married Tony Vatovec in Johnston City on April 6, 1968, who survives.
She was a secretary for State Farm Insurance, and worked as a librarian at the Johnston City Library. She loved to write poetry and was a published author. She was an active member of the Lions Club and Volunteered for many worthy causes over the years. She was also a singer/songwriter and musician. She played in the local band the Por-Kees and co-wrote the famous hit "The Big Muddy Monster". She also played in the local group "The Round-Up Gals & Paul, bringing joy to many people over the years with her talent.
She is survived by her husband Tony Vatovec; 2 daughters, Jennifer Vatovec (David Slocavich) of Florida and Julie Hilliard (Shaun) of Johnston City; 4 Grandchildren, Jessika Reinert (Zach), Jenna Deaton, Alivia Hilliard, Max Hilliard; 3 Great Grandchildren, Connor Reinert, Chance Reinert, and Grayson Woodard; a sister, Opal Avery; a brother, Jerry Kee (Gayle); Sister-in-Laws, Maureen Kee and Judy Kee; Brother-in-Law, Gene Whitlock; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Orville and Imogene Kee; brothers Vernon Kee and George Kee; sisters Vera Bishop and Arnetta Whitlock; mother and father-in-law Anton and Jennie Vatovec, brothers-in-law Edward Vatovec, Albine Vatovec (Roberta) , and William Vatovec.
A celebration of life will be held from 4 - 6 P.M. Friday August 22, 2025 at the Scout Cabin in Johnston City with Pastor Paul Jacob Officiating at 6 P.M. Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Johnston City Library or Johnston City Lions Club
