BETTY JEANNE BLADES

Johnston City–Betty Jeanne Blades 85 passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at 12:38 A.M. at Integrity Health Care in Marion.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday May 8, 2025 at Harmony Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery, north of Johnston City with Fr. Brian Barker officiating.  Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Thursday at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City.

Betty was born on November 29, 1939 in Denver, CO the daughter of Jesse C. and Margaret C. (Patton) Emerson. She married Everett Blade on August 27, 1960. Together they shared 63 years of marriage.

She was a member of the St. Paul's Catholic Church in Johnston City where she sang in the choir and taught religious classes to the youth. She worked at Smoler Brothers, Allens, and Norge all in Herrin, and Homoya Construction in Carterville.

She is survived by 1 son, Billy Blades and wife Nichole of Johnston City; 1 grandson, Alec Blades of Johnston City; and many nieces and nephews.

She preceded in death by her husband; her parents and several brothers and sisters.
