BETTY LOU CASH
Johnston City-Betty Lou Cash was called home to be with her Savior on July 24th 2010 with her loving family around her.
Betty was born on September 29th, 1935 to Gilbert and Cora (Ralph) Oxford at Cave In Rock, Illinois. She married Edward Ralph Cash on April 19, 1958. Betty and Edward celebrated their 52nd year together this year.
Betty was a member of the White Ash Freewill Baptist Church. She was an avid card player and member of the Happy Hearts Club. She was a devoted Cardinal baseball fan and rarely missed watching a game. Reading was a passion of hers until her sight started to fail.
Earlier in Betty's life she started hairdresser school in Chicago. Later she worked at St Elizabeth Hospital in Granite City until moving to Johnston City, where she opened a hair dresser shop in her home on Broadway. Then the family moved to Southaven Mississippi where she opened a floral shop in Memphis until they returned back to Johnston City where she and Edward ran the Arrowhead campgrounds in Johnston City. They retired and she lived out her life in Johnston City.
Preceding her in death were her mother and father Cora and Gilbert, mother and father in law Anna (Jacobs) and Edward Cash, brothers Kenneth, Wink, Russell and Leonard (Al) Oxford.
Surviving family are her husband, Edward Ralph Cash of Johnston City, daughter Debra and husband Jim West of Southaven, MS, Son Scott Cash of Johnston and his fiancée Diana Smoot. Sisters Alma and husband Harold Gross of Ohio, sister Wanda Cash, brothers Harry and wife Jane Oxford of Marion, David Oxford. Sister In laws Jackie Oxford and Yolonda Oxford. Grandsons, Blake and wife Christy and Brock and wife Jenna of MS. Many nieces and nephews.
Betty had a large family that will dearly miss her but know that the Lord has taken away all her pain.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Johnston City Library or White Ash Freewill Baptist Church.
Services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday July 27, 2010, at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Andy Lee officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
