BEVERLY HAWKINS
Beverly Hawkins, 86, of Johnston City, IL, passed away on December 23, 2023, in Maryville, IL. She was born on October 23, 1937, in Johnston City, IL, to the late Fred and Ruie Stritzel. Beverly was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
Beverly is survived by her loving spouse, Gary Hawkins, her daughter Susan Johnson, her son Joel and his wife Julie Williams, her brother Wendell and his wife Michelle, her sister Brenda Hale and her husband Larry, her first cousins Janet Stritzel Chapman and Joe Dean Stritzel, as well as her grandchildren Brock Johnson and his wife Jessie, Bianca Williams Darr and her husband Matt Darr, and Skylar, Connor and Jack Williams. She also leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Dean Darr and Cameron Johnson. Beverly had a close bond with her family friends Roberta Phipps, Glenda Spiller Colp, Carol and Noel Pahl, and Betty Krapf as well as Sissy Roo and Mr. Speck.
Beverly had a passion for antiquing, master gardening, and was a strong believer in positive thinking. She was very active and pioneered first time projects as a Girl Scout and led many girls in that endeavor. She graduated from Johnston City High School. She furthered her education at SIUE Edwardsville with her master's degree.
Beverly was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Johnston City, IL, where she found solace and strength in her faith.
A memorial service honoring Beverly's life will be held at 1pm on Saturday, January 6th, 2024, at the First United Methodist Church in Johnston City, IL. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M to 1:00 P.M. on Saturday at the church with Sherri Cisneros officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery. The Murman and Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City, IL, is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements.
Beverly will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will forever be cherished by her loved ones.
