Beverly (Black) Whitaker, 68, formerly of Peoria, passed away August 31 in Marion, Illinois. Bev was born on October 16, 1948 in Morton, Illinois.
Bev attended Woodruff High School and was a graduate of Southern Illinois University. She was employed as a case worker for the Illinois Department of Human Services from 1978 until her retirement in 2002. Bev enjoyed spending time in Hayward, Wisconsin with her husband, their friends, and family.
Bev is survived by husband Lee Whitaker, daughters Karen Shaul (Barry) and Candice Collins (Bryan); stepdaughter, Natalie Wilson (Paul); stepson, Stuart Whitaker (Jennifer); stepson, Heath Whitaker and twelve grandchildren. Beverly is also survived by her mother, Dorothy Black of San Marcos, California; brother, Bill Black (Lorraine); sister, Martha Gannaway (Ray); nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Black.
A family memorial service will be held.
