BONNIE LEE MORNEWEG

Johnston City–Bonnie Lee Morneweg 73, of Johnston City, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 12:50 P.M. at the Herrin Hospital.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday October 31, 2009, at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Rev. Mike Ebert officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the First Church of God in Marion. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Bonnie was born on September 26, 1936 in Herrin, the daughter of Oscar Sine and Edith (Poole) Brazitis. She married Charley W. Morneweg in Hernando, MS on June 20, 1954. They were married for 55 years. He survives

Bonnie owned and operated Bonnie's Flowers and Gifts and before that the Vanity Fair Beauty Shop both in Johnston City. She was an alderwoman in Johnston City, a supporter of veterans, and a member of the Woodmen of the World. He was a member of the First Church of God in Marion and was a member of the choir. She was a graduate of the Johnston City High School, took classes at John A. Logan College, graduate of Marion College of Beauty Culture and Chicago Floral Design School, and taught floral design classes for John A. Logan College Continuing Education.

She is survived by one daughter, Leah M. Kent and husband Gary W. of Marion; two sons, Bruce C. Morneweg of Johnston City and Brian L. Morneweg of Johnston City; four grandchildren, Bryce M. Williams, Ashlee N. Perkins, Matthew W. Kent, and Mary E. Gidcumb; ten great grandchildren, Sydney Williams, Elaina Williams, Makennah Short, Ethan Perkins, Dustin Kent, Andrew Kent, Ryan Kent, Sean Kent, Kaitlin Dawson, and Kaylee Gidcumb; one sister, Mary Edith Webster of Jackson, MO; and one brother, Steve Sine and wife Joyce of Marion.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her step-father, George Brazitis.
