BRUCE WAYNE LAND

Herrin–Bruce Wayne Land 62, of Herrin, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2011 at 6:15 A.M. at his family home.

Bruce was born on December 12, 1948 in Chicago the son of James E. and Jean F. (Pelz) Land. He married Cathy L. (Castleman) on April 1, 1977 in Marion.

Bruce was a Radiological Technologist at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. He was a veteran proudly serving in the navy. He was an avid model railroader.

He is survived by his mother, Jean F. Land of Herrin; his wife, Cathy L. Land of Herrin; two daughters, Leslie Light and husband Jeremy of Perryville, MO; and Michelle Land of Herrin and boyfriend Aaron Pryer; and four grandchildren; Owen Light, Mason Light, Lauren Light, and Jackson Light.

He was preceded in death by his father, James E. Land

Services will be held at 7:00 P.M., Monday August 1, 2011, at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Msgr. Ken Schaefer officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by the Herrin American Legion and the Illinois Army National Guard.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
