CAROL THOMPSON CLENDENIN

Johnston City-Carol Thompson Clendenin, 71, died at 8:10 P.M. on Friday, January 28, 2011 at Marion Rehab & Nursing.

Carol was born on March 17, 1939, in Dyersburg, TN the daughter of William and Mildred (Tomerlin) French. She first married Wesley Thompson who passed away on September 3, 1971. She later married Bert Clendenin who passed away on January 20, 2003.

Carol was a homemaker.

She is survived by six children; Richard Thompson of Carbondale, Kevin Thompson of Johnston City, Janice Thompson of Marion, Michael Thompson and wife Zehra of Mountain View, CA, Dwayne Clendenin and wife Niki of Marion, and Kenneth Clendenin of Johnston City; ten grandchildren, Wesley Thompson and wife Tisha, Rusty Thompson and wife Sarah, Michelle Thompson, Hannah Thompson, Taylor Thompson, Daniel Clendenin, Andy Clendenin, Tyler Clendenin, Christopher Clendenin, and Colin Clendenin; five great-grandchildren, Paige, Madison, Brenden, Libby, and Makayla; and one brother, Terry French of Alabama.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents, one infant son, Steven Thompson; and three brothers, Billy Joe French, William French Jr., and Gary French.

Services will be held at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home of Johnston City on Monday January 31, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Charles Jennings officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery of Johnston City.
