CAROLYN JO STAPLETON

Johnston City–Carolyn Jo Stapleton 68, of Johnston City, passed away on Tuesday, December 01, 2015 at 9:03 A.M. at the Herrin Hospital.

Services will be held at Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City on Friday December 4, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Larry Stevens officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. till 1:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.

Carolyn was born on September 25, 1947 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of William Joseph and Margaret Lillian (Stout) Herzog. She married Forrest Stapleton on October 1, 1965 in Hollywood. He survives.

Carolyn was homemaker, an avid horsewomen, and gardener. She loved people, to play games and her grandchildren, they were her joy. She especially loved Forrest, he was her soulmate.

She is survived by six children, Arthur Edward Stapleton of Johnston City, William Joseph Stapleton of Morgantown, WV, Loretta Lynn Burling and husband Douglas of St. Anne, Christina Marie Fox and Husband Tom of Essex, Forrest Allen Stapleton and wife Rebecca of Pittsburg, and Jamie Nicole Ellis and husband Clint of Johnston City; twenty-three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two sisters; and two brothers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her dog, Butch; and Boo Boo the bird.
