CARRIE GENIEVE ORR MUNSELL

Johnston City–Carrie Genieve Orr Munsell 93, of Johnston City passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at 10:53 P.M. at Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin.

Services will be held at Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City on Thursday February 26, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor John Howatt and Pastor Matt Troxel officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Grove Cemetery in Carrier Mills. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. till 1:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.

Carrie was born on December 10, 1921 in Crab Orchard, the daughter of Randall and Elsie (Absher) Manier. She was married to Elmer Orr on May 29, 1936. He preceded her in death on October 7, 1974. She then married William Munsell Sr. on March 4, 1976. He preceded her in death on May 26, 1991.

Carrie was a devoted wife, mother, Christian and friend to many. She was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church for as long as she was physically able to attened.

She is survived by her children, Marcella Clarida and husband Ray of Johnston City, Sharon Stanger of Johnston City, Larry Orr and wife Barbara of West Frankfort, Elsie Johnson of Pittsburg, and Kathy Holloman and husband David of West Frankfort; 18 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 24 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Shirley Manier of Johnston City; a brother-in-law, Vernon Orr of Texas; and countless friends who will miss her greatly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, James and Elvis Orr; two sisters, Golda Merrell Moore and Opal Mandrell Atwood; five brothers, Leon, James, Claude, Clyde, and Lloyd Manier; and one granddaughter, Melissa Stanger Mitchell
