CHARLES "BUD" F. ROWLAND

Mulkeytown–Charles "Bud" F. Rowland, 76 passed away on Friday, May 13, 2022 at 6:55 A.M. in the comfort of his home.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday May 17, 2022, at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Alan Newman officiating. Burial will be in the Harrison Cemetery in Buckner with graveside military rites conducted by the Marion V.F.W., American Legion, and National Guard Baiul Detail Team. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Funeral Home.

Bud was born July 8, 1945 in West Frankfort the son of Steve Sherman and Ida Helen (Welch) Rowland. He married Judith Mae (Vercellino) on July 8,1967. She survives.

Bud was a veteran of Vietnam proudly serving in the U.S. Army receiving the Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, and Air Medal 2 ^nd Cluster (V). After returning home from serving his country, he took an oath to public service serving as a police officer in Christopher and a volunteer fire fighter. He later worked as a coal miner for over 20 years. Upon retirement he enjoyed delivering boats with his grandson, and going to dinner with his granddaughter. His grandchildren were the highlight of his life.

He is survived by his mother; daughter, Julie Dawes and husband Kevin of Marion; a grandson, Garrett Ramsey; a granddaughter, Makenna Claycamp; a great granddaughter, Kennady Dawn Ramsey; a brother Steve Rowland Jr. and wife Vickie of Christopher; a sister Sheryl Robinson and husband Dennis of Rolla MO.

He was preceded in death by his father; and a brother, Mike Rowland;

He was beloved by all who had the pleasure of meeting him. He will forever be deeply missed.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Honor Flight.
