He was preceded in death by his father, Charles McCay; his mother, Norma Gunter; and grandson, Brett Sandifur.

He is survived by six children, Jerry and Amanda Elkins, Norma Rose, Clarence CE and Crystal McCay, William McCay, Charles McCay, Clarence D McCay; grandchildren, Kyle and Abby Elkins, Cheyenne and Denver Parkhill, Brandon McCay, Ruthie Rose, Gabriel McCay, and Allyson McCay; siblings, Chuck McCay, Linda Bradford, Michael McCay Sr., and Ann Crowe.

In his final days before his battle ended he enjoyed his last meal of egg and cheese omelet prepared by his sister and care giver Linda Bradford. He took pride in his family and enjoyed spending time with them. His hobbies included writing poetry, traveling, and telling stories from his amazing life experiences. He will be remembered most by his ability to make everyone laugh and his sincere love for his children and grandchildren. Hi favorite quote was "love you more" which he would quote to remind his family how much he cared.
