C.D. was born in New Castle, OK on December 22, 1943, the son of Ruben and Iva Wilson.  He has been a member of several churches in Southern Illinois.  His faith in God was very strong.

C.D. graduated from high school in Oklahoma City, OK in 1962.

He spent the first half of his career as a diesel mechanic and then retired working on equipment in the coal mines.

His favorite pastimes were boating, fishing and muscle cars.  He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed taking his 1985 Corvette to car shows.  He was also a member of the NRA.

C.D. was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Wilson.

C.D. is survived by his daughter Terri Wilson, Granddaughter Amber Mize and Grandchildren Grafton Howell and Haley Mize, son Eric, niece Brenda Jones and her daughter Taylor and Taylor's children Jason, Elijah and Zoey.  Colbert also has three other nieces, three nephews, nine great nieces and ten great nephews.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday April 1, 2025, in the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Keith Fletcher officiating.  Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M.

He loved his speed boats, waterskiing and vacationing on various lakes and fishing whenever he could. He raced stocked cars in younger days and grew up with the passion of fast cars, going to the race tracks and taking his corvette to car shows. He loved to go hunting as well.

He was an all-around outside man working in his yard, cars or whatever and very much enjoyed when his grandkids would come to visit and ride four wheelers or dirt bikes, cookout, fish and paddle boat on his pond. He was loved by everyone that knew him.  He was sweet and kind and a man of strong morals.
