DAKOTA YORK

Johnston City–Dakota "Kota" Ray York, 25 passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at 5:45 P.M. at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

Dakota was born on September 16, 1993 in Herrin, the son of Tonya Richardson and Danny York Jr. Kota was blessed to have a bonus dad Tim Walters. All of whom reside in Johnston City

He is survived by a brother, Garrett York of Johnston City; a daughter, Jayda York and her mother, Ashley Pound of St. Louis, MO; a grandpa, Ed Richardson of Johnston City; a grandma, Sue Stearns and family; a grandma, Darla York of Johnston City; a grandpa, Terry Walters of Johnston City and family; a step-mother, Debbie York; a step sister, Brittini Stinnett; a cousin, Trent Robinson of Johnston City and family; many aunts, uncles and cousins, from St. Louis, MO, Illinois, to Arizona.

He was preceded in death by a grandma, Mary Ann Richardson; a grandma, Jenny Walters; a grandpa, Danny York; and a grandma, Vera Krantz.

Dakota "Kota" was loved by his family and friends. Kota loved to fish and be outdoors. His best days were spent outdoors enjoying what Mother Nature had to offer.

Kota was known for playing jokes on family and friends. Very few friends and family have not had some kind of joke played on them by Kota. That was just part of his joyous and caring nature. He enjoyed making people smile and will be remembered for his contagious smile.
