DALE STROUD

Marion–Dale Stroud 89 passed away Sunday, November 20, 2016 at 2:15 P.M. in his home.

Dale was born on October 22, 1927 in Pittsburg the son of Jesse and Gay (Hudgens) Stroud. He married LaVerne Allen on July 26, 1948 in Oseola, Arkansas and she survives. They celebrated 68 years of marriage this past summer.

He was a retired coal miner having worked in the mines 35 years. He retired from Freeman #4 mine. He was a veteran proudly serving in the army.

He is survived by three children, Donna Jean Genetti and husband Bill of Chatham, Steve Stroud and wife Vicki of East Cape, Barbara Jane Clark and husband Gary of Marion; eight grandchildren, Polly Marchizza and husband Joe of Chatham, Jonathan Fletcher and wife Messina of Danvers, Courtney Baxter and husband John of West Frankfort, Stephaney Odle and husband John of Marion, Keven Stroud and wife Traci of West Frankfort, Brian Clark and wife Amanda of Marion, Michelle Maple and husband Chad of Pittsburg, Katie Scheffler and husband Nathan of New Orleans; 14 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Earl, Robert, Jack, and Jim.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday November 23, 2016, at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Keith Fletcher officiating. Burial will be in the Lake Creek in Johnston City. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Lake Creek Cemetery Association.
