DANNY T. SAMPLES

Johnston City-Danny T. Samples 62 of Johnston City passed away on Friday April 6, 2012 at 4:45 A.M. at his family home.

Services will be held at 12:00 noon Thursday April 12, 2012 at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Eddie Donelson officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Entombment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Danny was born on December 3, 1949 in Herrin the son of John and Ann (Green) Samples. He married Jeri Rae (Lowery) on December 31, 1983. She preceded him in death on March 10, 2009.

Danny worked in area coal mines for 36 years, retiring in 2009. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, going to car shows, and fishing.

He occasionally attended Grange Hall Church.

He is survived by one son, Chad Samples and wife Heather of Charleston, SC; one daughter, Tara Burton and husband Marc of Crainville; three grandchildren, Lexi and Logan Samples of Charleston, SC and Hayden Burton of Crainville; two brothers, Pat Samples and wife Beverly of Marion and Micky Samples and wife Donna of Marion; sister-in-laws, Donna Samples of Marion and Zelda Samples of West Frankfort; sister-in-law, Debbie McBride and husband Donnie of Johnston City; brother-in-law, Denny Lowery and wife Connie of Vienna; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Harvey and Mary Brooks of Slocomb, AL; and best friend and companion, Marcheeta Parks of Marion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Johnny and Dennis Samples.
