DARREN GLEN BENNETT

Johnston City–Darren Glen Bennett 60 passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025 at 8:53 A.M. in the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Services will be held at 4:00 P.M., Saturday August 2, 2025, in the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Andy Lee officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City.

Darren was born on January 30, 1965, in Herrin the son of Charles and Peggy (Staples) Bennett. They preceded him in death.

He is survived by four sisters; Carmen and husband Raymond Savant of Johnston City, Cindy and husband Steve Robinson of Marion, Kelli and husband Lance Travis of Johnston City, and Keri and husband Jesse Davis of Johnston City; nieces and nephews, Brock Savant, Erik Savant, Hailee Robinson, Greg and wife Mercedes Robinson, Kegan and wife Kristy Travis, Katie and husband Hunter Odum, Jake Davis, and Levi Davis; great nieces and nephews, Kyle Savant, Colten Savant, Mason Savant, Emerson Robinson, Easton Robinson, and Nora Travis; and his fur baby, Sophie.

He is preceded in death by his first and only baby and by a great nephew, Tyler Savant.

Darren enjoyed his fur baby Sophie, who you rarely saw out and about without him, walking at Arrowhead Lake with cousin Randi, fishing, and riding his motorcycle.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to anaplastic thyroid cancer research commonly known as ATC.
