In Loving Memory of David L. Doering
David L. Doering, age 71, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2026, at 10:20 a.m. surrounded by all his loved ones in the comforts of his home.
David was a loving husband, father, and Paw Paw whose greatest joy in life was his family. He was a man of many interests and passions, and there was never a shortage of things he enjoyed doing. From attending car shows and SIU ball games to cheering on the Cardinals, playing his drums, and enjoying all the little things life had to offer, David found happiness in the moments that mattered most. Above everything else, he cherished spending time with the people he loved.
David dedicated 28 years of his life to working as a coal miner, a testament to his hard work, dedication, and strength.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Ramona Doering; his children, Kimberly and Jon Gunzel, Nicole and John Ladd, Heather and Leslie Miller; and his beloved grandchildren, Shawn Brown, Nicholas Brown, Bentley Browns, Braxton Ladd, Lane Childers and his only granddaughter Emma Robinson. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Lori Jennings, brother-in-law, Danny Jennings, a niece and several nephews many dearly loved cousins.
David was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Delorese and Robert Doering; his aunts, Carolyn Baine and Marilyn Jeralds; his uncle, Leslie Eisenhower; and his dear lifelong best friend, Danny Ellis.
Services will be held on Sunday November 8, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Danielle Emling officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery.
David's passing leaves a tremendous void in the hearts of those who loved him. Though his time here has ended, the memories he created, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave will forever remain in the hearts of his family.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. His greatest legacy will always be the family he loved so much.
Rest peacefully, David. Until we meet again, you will forever be our husband, our dad, our Paw Paw, and our loved one.
