DAVID ALAN SHADOWENS

Johnston City-David Alan Shadowens, 49 of Johnston City passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2011 at home surrounded by his family.

David was born on July 28, 1961 in Marion, the son of John Shadowens and Shirley Mandrell. Raised by Vernon Mandrell and Shirley in Johnston City.

Loving husband and partner to Jeannie Shadowens for 30 years. Married on June 27, 1980.

Actively involved in hometown community affairs concerning finance and safety of Johnston City residents. Avid outdoorsman and golfer. Co-owner and founder of Southern Illinois Pest Services with Dennis Parker in Benton, since 1999.

He is survived by his wife, Jeannie Shadowens; his children, David D. Shadowens of Peoria and Nicholas Shadowens at home; his mother, Shirley Mandrell of Johnston Ctiy; his father, John Shadowens of Johnston City; one brother, Robert Shadowens and wife Denise of FL; two sisters, Kathy Jones and husband Malcolm of Marion, and Jennifer Jo Chandler and husband Steve of Johnston City; tow aunts, Barb Stanley of Marion and Donna Peebles of Marion; and a sister-in-law, Tina Mandrell of Bowling Green, KY.

He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Mandrell; and two brothers, Tim Mandrell and Danny Mandrell.

He will be sadly missed by this world. One of his greatest attributes to his character and integrity was he always could find the winning solution to anyone else's problems. His heart was full of love and understanding which he practiced daily to family, friends, and acquaintances.

Services will be held at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home of Johnston City on Thursday January 13, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Andy Lee officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery of Johnston City.
