Johnston City–Dean Carroll, 88 of Johnston City passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at 6:25 A.M. at the V.A. Medical Center in Marion.

Services will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Christian Church of Johnston City with Pastor Steven Higgs Officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City with military rites conducted by the Marion V.F.W., American Legion and the Army Burial Honors Team. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the church. Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Johnston City Library. Envelopes will be available at the church.

Dean was born on August 3, 1931 in Johnston City the son of Dudley and Rhoda (Shubert) Carroll. He married Lois Louise (Williams) on May 18, 1952 in Johnston City. She preceded him in death on January 10, 2017.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the first Christian Church of Johnston City. He was retired from Norge/Maytag working as a press operator.

He is survived by a daughter, Cindy Pulsford and husband Joe of Johnston City; a grandson Norman Carroll Jr. and wife Ashley of Norman, OK; a grandson, Jeff Carroll and fiancée April Shelton of Harrisburg; a granddaughter, Reilly Williams of Johnston City; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Norman Carroll; five sisters; and 3 brothers.
