DOLORES SWIFT

Johnston City-Dolores Dell (Hansford) Swift, 83, of Taylorville, crossed the River Jordan to Heavens open door peacefully at her home, with her daughter at her side on March 28 at 2:31 p.m.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday April 7, 2018, in the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Steve Higgs officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.

Dolores was born November 20, 1934 in Johnston City to Owen Hansford and Hallie McKane. She was united in marriage to Warren Swift on November 27. 1981 and was blissfully married for 36 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Gena Handegan Paulding of Taylorville, 7 loving grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, Brother John Hansford of Rosedale, IN, and Sister Mary Lee Hansford Neureuther of New Limerick, ME.

Dolores was preceded in death by her father in 1968 and mother in 1937, her stepmother Mary (Carroll-Hansford) Sanders in 1998, husband in 2017, brothers Leonard Hansford, Irving Hansford, and Norman Craig. Her son Curtis Handegan in 2016 and grandson Austin Handegan in 2007.

Dolores worked as head of the secretarial pool for Blankenship's of Marion, IL before becoming a wife and mother and moving to Elgin, IL in 1963. She worked for a time at the Elgin Mental Health Hospital, and as a bookkeeper for Higgins Asphalt of Dundee, IL, before opening her own bookkeeping services that operated until she retired.

Dolores and husband Warren loved living near the lakes and owned a fishing resort in MN for many years. They loved to play bridge and travel, one of her fondest memories was a trip to the Holy Land
