DONALD RICHARD CHILDERS
Marion-Donald Richard Childers, 73 of Marion, died Thursday, October 2, 2014 in Saline County.

Donald was born June 14, 1941 in Johnston City the son of Loren and Laura (Atkins) Childers. He married Betty Jean (Cantrell) on March 4, 1966 in Murphysboro.

He retired from Scheller-Globe in Herrin after working for there for over 25 years. He proudly served in the Army.

He is survived by 4 children, Doug Childers and wife Mary of Johnston City, Rebecca Earheart of Marion, Gary Childers and wife Carrie of Rosiclare, Melissa Springhorn and husband John of DeSoto; 15 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 5 sisters, Flora Wood of Herrin, Ruby Puff of DeKalb, Lorene Lyell of Johnston City, Linda Hale of Pittsburg, and Kae Collins and husband Bill of West Frankfort; 1 brother, Delbert Childers of Johnston City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers; and 4 sisters.

Services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Cindy Freeland officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
