DONALD RAINEY

Johnston City-Donald Rainey 87 of Johnston City passed away on Friday February 24, 2012 at 8:25 P.M. at the St. Louis University Hospital.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday March 3, 2012 at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with military rites conducted by the Marion V.F.W. American Legion and Illinois Army National Guard. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Saturday at the Funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Lung Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Donald was born on December 27, 1924 in Princeton, IN the son of Lester and Alma (Ackman) Rainey. He married Virginia Lee (Rumple) on January 27, 1945 in Princeton, IN. She preceded him in death on October 12, 2000.

He was a farmer. He was veteran of WWII proudly serving in the army. He was a member of the American Legion of Herrin and a member of the N.R.A.

He is survived by one son, Lloyd Rainey and wife Marilyn of Murphysboro; one daughter, Vivian Johnson and husband Sam of Johnston City; four grandchildren, Paul Johnson and wife Melissa of Johnston City, Amy Perry and husband Corey of Pittsburg, Michael Eaton and wife Carolyn of St. Louis, MO, and John Eaton and wife Amy of Murphysboro; five great grandchildren, Marisa Perry, Tyler Johnson, Trenton Johnson, Dylan Eaton, and Brenlyn Eaton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gilbert Rainey; and best friend, Tom Oster.
