DORIS JEAN DOBBINS

Johnston City-Doris Jean Dobbins 87 passed away at 7:53 A.M. on Monday, March 20, 2023 at home.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, March 24, 2023, at Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Larry Stevens officiating. Burial will be in the Zeigler Cemetery of Zeigler. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Friday at the funeral home.

Doris was born on April 20, 1935 in Christopher the daughter of Fount and Faye (Bennett) Moore. She married Verlyn "Bozo" Dobbins on August 12, 1961 in Zeigler. He preceded her in death June 3, 2008.

Doris was a member of the First Baptist Church of Johnston City and the First Baptist Church of Zeigler. She was known to many as Grandma Doris. She enjoyed sporting events, especially JCHS events and St. Louis Cardinals. She most enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She graduated Zeigler High School Class of 1953. She graduated nursing school in St Louis as an L.P.N. She worked in the medical field for several doctors including Dr. Rupprecht and Dr. Vinai.

She is survived by a son, Doug Dobbins and wife Michelle of Johnston City; three grandchildren, Jennifer Wynn and husband Jeremy of Carterville, Jaimie Timmons and husband Nicholas of Johnston City, and Sean Dobbins and wife Chelsea of Carterville; seven great grandchildren, Brendon, Breanna and Brantley Timmons, Jase Wynn, Braeden Wynn, Wyatt Dobbins, Gracelyn Dobbins; a special daughter Julie Johanson-Jones and husband Daryl Jones; and grandchildren, Jacob and Ashleigh Johanson, Breanna Shumate; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, Amanda Jarvis and husband Bob, Betty Beavers and husband Leo, Lenora Wallace, Joann Payne and husband Earl; and an infant brother, Charles Moore
