EDWARD "ED" ORIN JORDAN Jr.

Stiritz–Edward "Ed" Orin Jordan Jr., 64, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 8:57 A.M. at home.

Services will be held at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home of Johnston City on Thursday December 5, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Jason Thrash officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery of Johnston City.

Ed was born on August 30, 1955 in Aurora the son of Edward Orin Jordan Sr. and Esther (Rice) Jordan. He married Nancy Lazorchak on May 29, 1982.

He is survived by a son, David Jordan Garland; a daughter, Angie Florschuelz; granddaughter, Hannah Garland; grandson, Keith Florshuelz; sisters, Martha (Roger) McKee, Phyllis (Rick) Nedom, Jeannie (Dave) Passini, Helen (Jim) Gessell, Lucille (Don) Barkowski, Christine (Hank) Grothen, Mary Waldschmidt, and Diane Jordan; brother, Donnie (Laurie) Jordan; many nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, John (Sherry) Lazorchak, Randy (Brenda) Lazorchak, Steve Lazorchak and Julie Rich, James Bishop; sister-in-law, Madaline Lazorchak; nieces and nephews, Joshua Lazorchak, Jessica (Darren) Lenon, Quentin (Kayla) Lazorchak, and Jason Adams; great nieces and nephew, Kalli Lazorchak, Gracelyn Lenon, and Carson Lenon; and many close friends who were like family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy; brother, John Jordan; nephew, Richard Jordan; niece, Hannah Lazorchak; and his fur babies, Mollie and Merlin.

Ed was an amazing man who was loved by many. He adored Nancy and they shared 37 years together in marriage. He had a heart of gold and loved visits from his nieces and nephews. He and Nancy spoiled the children in the family all year long, no matter the holiday or the reason.

Ed had many jobs in his life, including making crafts for many years to sell at craft fairs around Southern Illinois. Working with Nancy in the catering business they created together was one of his proudest accomplishments. Together they built a successful business and made many friends along the way. He and Nancy gave their business 110% every day and even missed out on attending special family events at times to ensure they took care of their customers. Ed was known for his famous chocolate chip cookies and could make the best cheese cake and brownies ever. Ed was an amazing baker and helped cook many of the dishes that they prepared. If anyone ever asked Ed for a recipe, he would smile and say "I would tell you, but I would have to kill you." Only a few days after he was discharged from the hospital the last time, he made his famous chocolate chip cookies so that someone (Brenda) could taste test them. They were amazing as always.

Ed's catering clients were much more than customers. They were all cherished friends. He served food to hundreds while talking with old friends and making new ones. Ed would often double book events just because he didn't want to let anyone down. His goal was to make everyone happy, if he could.

Ed attempted to be a weatherman many times, but as Gracelyn knows, he was not very good at it. He would tell her that it was going to be sunny and the rain would be pouring down.

Ed lived with constant discomfort and pain, but you rarely knew it. He kept giving it his all even though he should be resting. Taking it easy was not an option for him.

Ed loved their dogs Mollie and Merlin. He loved dog sitting with Quentin's four legged children, Case and Ruby. He loved old country music and enjoyed having friends and family over for card games.

Our world is a better place because he was in it. We are all incredibly blessed to have had him in our lives. We miss him terribly, but we know that he and Nancy are together again and happy.
