Erneset Wayne Hurley 96 of Pittsburg passed Saturday October 15, 2022. He was a resident at the Voyage in Marion.

He was in the Alzheimer's unit for 7 years.

Wayne was born to William Hurley and Ethel Deming Hurley in Carterville in 1925. Wayne married Wilma Bennett on March 9, 1946. Wilma passed September 10, 2011.

He was a retired coal miner and a Veteran of World War 2 honorably serving in the Navy.

He leaves behind 2 daughters – Dorothy Hurley, Randi Hurley Price and Husband Larry. His only son David Wayne Hurley Passed in January of 2014. He has 5 grandkids – Julie Johnson, Brian Kip Hendrickson, Casey Springer, Tammy Kell, and Jessie Hurley. Wayne had numerous great grandkids and great-great grandkids.

There were 4 brothers and 2 sisters in the original Hurley household. 3 Brothers preceded him in death. William, Ellis, and Joe. One sister preceded him in death – Louise Shaubert. His only living sister is Barbara Nell Kendall has been a rock through all of Wayne's sickness.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday October 22, 2022 at the Murman and Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Darrin Clark officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Burial with Military Honors will be conducted by the Marion VFW American Legion and Navy Funeral Honors Detail at the Number 8 Cemetery.
