ESTHER L. (GRANT) HAZEL

Ferges-Esther L. (Grant) Hazel 98, passed away on Thursday September 28, 2023 at 6:30 P.M. at Parkway Manor in Marion.

Services will be held on Monday October 2, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home of Johnston City with Pastor Steve Lindsay officiating. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Marion.  Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.

Esther was born on April 30, 1925 in Ferges the daughter of Harry H. and Lena Elizabeth (Sanders) Grant. She married George E. Hazel on November 16, 1947 in Johnston City. He preceded her in death on June 5, 2014.

She worked at Smoler's as a seamstress, National Transformer, and was a homemaker. She loved gardening and was a sports enthusiast.

She is survived by a daughter, Kimbra Hazel-Lange of Springfield; a son, G Gregory Hazel and wife Kim of Champaign; twin grandsons, Mathew Hazel and wife Ali Krogman and Christopher Hazel and Dr. Lauren Glaser; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mable Grant; four brothers, Claris O. "Tot" Grant and wife Helen, Laverne "Cubby" Grant and wife Garland; Edward "Eddie" Grant; and William "Billy" Grant.
