FAY SHOWMAKER

Johnston City-Fay Showmaker, 92, died at 7:45 A.M. on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at the residence of her daughter in Johnston City.

Fay was born on January 1, 1919 in West Frankfort, the daughter of Arthur and Ada (Blades) King. She was married to Ernest Showmaker who preceded her in death in 1981.

Fay was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Johnston City.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Henson and husband Jerry of Johnston City, a son, Charles Gardner and wife Geraldine of Orient, a stepson Gary Showmaker and wife Jean of West Frankfort, fifteen grandchildren, three step grandchildren and several great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and cousins.

Fay was preceded in death by her parents; four children, Donald Showmaker, Jerry, Bobby and Ronald Gardner and three sisters, Lena Odle, Hallie Kelley and Nellie Travis, one brother, Claude Milligan.

Services will be held at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home of Johnston City on Sunday January 16, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Danny Campbell and Rev. Thomas Campbell officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery of Johnston City. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
