FLOYD EDWARD SHAW

Johnston City- Floyd "Ed" Shaw 49 passed away Saturday May 22, 2021 at 4:46 P.M. at home.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday May 29, 2021 at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City.  Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.  A private interment will take place at a later date.

Ed was born on March 15, 1972 in Benton, IL, the son of Larry Dale and Deana Belle (Dahmer) Shaw.  He graduated Johnston City High School Class of 1990, where he was a member of the 1990 State Champion Math Team, and a member of the J.C. Indians Football Team. He went on to attend John A. Logan College and Millikin University in Decatur, before attending studies in conservation at SIU-Carbondale.

After college, Ed entered a sheet metal worker apprenticeship, and became a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local 268.  He was also an active member of the Johnston City Buccaneer's Club, which he joined in 1993.  He very much enjoyed participating in club functions and activities, often helping with organization and food preparation for his fellow members and their families.

Ed spent most of his life an enthusiastic hunter and fisherman, spending much of his time hunting and fishing around his home.  He was also an avid fan of Chicago Cubs Baseball and Chicago Bears Football, attending and watching many games with his family and friends.

He is survived by his mother, Deana Shaw of Marion; a brother, John Shaw of Belleville; nieces and nephews, Crystie Wright of Marion, Ian Shaw of Mascoutah, and Simon Shaw of Anchorage, AK, Justin Smart of Marion, Claire Shaw of Westminster, CA, and Benjamin Smart of Marion; six great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Dale Shaw, and sister, Lucinda Anne (Shaw) Edwards.
