FORREST C. STAPLETON

Johnston City-Forrest C. Stapleton, 84 passed at 10:48 P.M. on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.

Services will be held on Wednesday September 20, 2023 starting at 1:00 P.M. at the Murman & Wilson Funeral home in Johnston City with Pastor Larry Stevens officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Forrest was born on August 31, 1939 in Ironton, Ohio the son of Aurthur Edward and Dorothy Mae (Martin) Stapleton. He married Carolyn Jo (Herzog) on October 1, 1965 in Hollywood. She preceded him in death on December 1, 2015.

Forrest loved being a machinist. He loved to hunt, fish and camp. He was a pool league champion.

He is survived by five children, William Joseph Stapleton and wife Jessica of Fairmont, WV, Loretta Lynn Burling and husband Douglas of St. Anne, Christina Marie Fox and husband Tom of Essex, Forrest Allen Stapleton and wife Rebecca of Johnston City, and Jamie Nicole Ellis and husband Clint of Johnston City; twenty-three grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; a sister, Freda Meadows of Coal Grove, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Aurthur Edward Stapleton and 11 brothers and sisters; and his best friend, Jerry Meadows.
