GERALDINE "GERI" ROGERS

Johnston City–Geraldine "Geri" Rogers, 75 of Johnston City passed away at 9:03 P.M. Friday January 29, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on February 26, 1945 in Maryville, TN the daughter of Howard and Maude Mae (Russell) Wilburn. Geraldine was one of ten children. She was married on October 30, 1971 to Benjamin "Pete" Rogers in Chicago. He preceded her in death on July 14, 1999.

Geraldine grew up in the Smokey Mountains and traveled north for work. It was in Chicago that she worked for Western Electric and started a family before retiring to Southern Illinois. Geri was a strong woman loved for her kind heart and stubborn ways. She was also a woman of faith and she attended Community Chapel Church in Marion. If you knew Geri then you know she always kept a spotless house and a beautiful garden. She liked to sit on the porch swing to watch the birds with her sweet tea in hand.

She is survived by three daughters, Lisa Shepard of Marion, Theresa Rogers-Smith and husband Dyke of Johnston City, Regina Smith and husband Brian of Channahon; a son, Benjamin Rogers of Guntown, MS; six grandchildren, Phillip Haley and wife Shandie of Johnston City, Charles Shepard and wife Carrie of Arlington Heights, Casey Patschke and husband C.J. of Aurora, Morgan Smith, Taylor Smith, and Breana Smith; six great grandchildren, Emma Wells, Vivian Haley, Owen Haley, Violet Haley, Chase Patshke, and Max Shepard.

Due to COVID there will not be a visitation but a private graveside service in the spring.

As she would always say to us, "Have a good one."
