HAROLD D. BELT
Johnston City-Harold D. Belt 85, of Johnston City passed away at 2:17 A.M. on Monday, June 9, 2014 at Herrin Hospital.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, June 12, 2014, at Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Larry Litton officiating. Burial will be in the Herrin City Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by the Herrin V.F.W., American Legion, Freeman Spur American Legion, and Illinois Army National Guard. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 2:00 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Manna Mission of Johnston City. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Harold was born on July 17, 1928 in Herrin the son of Lloyd L. and Golda Mae (Cunningham) Belt. He married Peggy J. (Brown) on June 20, 1959 in Herrin. She survives.

Harold was a veteran of WWII proudly serving in the Navy. He was a member of the Herrin American Legion. In his lifetime he worked as a painting and dry wall contractor and 24 years as a Southern Illinoisan Rural Carrier.

He is survived by 1 daughter, Sandra Pagliai and husband Paul of Johnston City; 1 son, Steven Belt and wife Debbie of Pflugerville, TX; 3 grandchildren, Chad, Derek, and Nikki; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Anna K. Brown; and 2 nephews, Bobby and wife Bridgette Brown and Ron and wife Cindy Brown.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
