HAROLD LEE WILKINS
Johnston City–Harold Lee Wilkins 89, of Johnston City went to be with his Savior Jesus Christ Sunday July26, 2020 at 9am at Shawnee Christian Nursing Home in Herrin, IL.
Harold was born to Denzel L Wilkins and Shular Beck Lucas on Sept 28 th 1930. He married Juanita G Goodwin on Sept 27 th 1958. She preceded him in death in 2002. Survivors include children, Sherry Thomas LaBotte of Marion, IL, Kathy Jo Thomas Clarida of Marion, IL, John W. Thomas of Goreville, IL, Lee A Black of Marion IL. Nine grandchildren Bradley, Sarah, Garrett, Austin, Ronda, Connie, Johnnie, Faith and Jake, Nine great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Friends and neighbors Brenda & Kevin Horn of Johnston City, IL.
He was preceded in death by his wife Juanita Wilkins, one daughter Kay Wilkins, one grandson Mark A Baier, and one sister Clara Marie Clark.
He worked at Old Ben Coal for many years and was known as "Big Man" to many. Then he later became known as "Cowboy" for his Cowboy hat at Andersons Café where he was known for handing out candy bars to children and seniors. That hat has been hung at the nursing home in memory of him. He was loved by many friends and staff there. He will be missed by many. Before he became fully incompetent he dedicated his life to Jesus and assured me where he would be when his time here on earth was done. Many thanks to Murman & Wilson for being so kind and caring.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday July 30, 2020 in the Murman &Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City.
