HARRIETT MARIE LAWRENCE
Benton-Harriett Marie Lawrence, 89, of Benton, passed away at 12:30 P.M. on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 in her family home.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 11, 2014, at Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City. Burial will be held in the Lakeview Cemetery of Johnston City. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Harriett was born on March 14, 1924 in Johnston City the daughter of Edward and Fannie G. (Boyer) Owens. She married Chester L. Lawrence on August 5, 1941 in Missouri. He survives.

Harriett was a homemaker. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother cherished by all of her family and will be sadly missed.

She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Lawrence of Elgin; a son, Michael Lawrence and wife Veronica of Naperville; six grandchildren, Brian Lawrence and wife Lynn, Jennifer Lawrence, Mary Lawrence, Rebecca Golchert, Keith Golchert and wife Jen, and Scott Golchert; seven great grandchildren, Elizabeth Lawrence, Rachel Lawrence, Lauder Hansen, Jack Hansen, Jacob Murphy, Gracie Golchert, and Nolan Golchert; and a brother, George Owens and wife Sally of West Frankfort; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Marsha Lyn Gillespie; a great grandson, Owen Hansen; two sisters, Edith Owens and Opal Thompson; and three brothers, Merrill Owens, Norman "Dean" Owens, and Edward "Buck" Owens.
