Harry Ray Jr.
Johnston City- Harry Ray Jr. 61 passed away Thursday July 3, 2014 at home.
Jr. was born July 27th, 1952 in Herrin Hospital to Harry & Margie (Davis) Ray.
He was employed by the Marion School District as a custodian. He retired from Rend Lake coal mine after 31 years as a rock duster. He was looking forward to retiring from the school district July 30th of this year.
Jr. was a very loving husband, father, and grand-father. He took very good care of his parents and family.
Jr. married Jean Ann Kinley on June 23, 1973 in Johnston City United Methodist Church. She Survives.
Other survivors include his parents, mother-in-law Bonnie Kinley. Four children, Steven Ray & fiancée April Garland of Herrin, daughter Samantha Bean and husband Josh and son Harry Ray III and wife Lacy all of Stiritz. Daniel Ray of Murphysboro. Six grandchildren, Bryan Burgess, Gabrial Foster & Alycea Ray of Herrin, Adrianna Bean, Thomas Bean, Zakkary Ray & Leia Jayne Ray of Stiritz. Sisters Barbara Buckner & Mary Ray-Foster of Johnston City, Sheryl-Ray-Eaton of Herrin. A paternal aunt, Margaret Cobb of Richmond Hills, Georgia.
He was proceed in death by his granddaughter Kailey Nichole Bean, his brother Jack Ray, father-in-law Luther H. Kinley, brother-in-law Brad Buckner and sister-in-law Barbara Beers. Also his maternal grandparents Herman and Marietta (Brown) Davis, paternal grandparents James and Ruth (Wilson) Ray.
Jr. loved to play with his grandchildren, hunting, fishing and going to yard sales, auctions and antiquing. He also took great pleasure in mowing yards in the neighborhood with his new zero turn mower. He loved to cook out on the grill for family gatherings.
Services are entrusted to Murman and Wilson Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday from 5pm to 8pm and Tuesday 11am till 2pm with the service to begin at 2pm with Pastor Mike Mayfield officiating. Burial will be immediate following in the Sanders-Davis Cemetery south of Johnston City.
Memorials may be made to The Arthritis Foundation or Johnston City United Methodist Church Food Pantry.
