HELLICE G. BECKER

Johnston City–Hellice G. Becker, 100 of Johnston City passed away on Friday, April 9, 2010 at 3:40 P.M. at the StoneBridge Nursing Home in Benton.

Hellice was born on June 30, 1909 in Johnston City the daughter of Webb and Elizabeth (Huffman) Smith.

On September 9, 1928 she married Herbert E. Becker in Johnston City. He preceded her in death on June 16, 1985.

Hellice worked at Mary Muffet Dress Factory, Sangamo Electric, and later at Mooseheart Children's Home in Elgin.

She is survived by 5 grandchildren, Cathy Tolbert and husband Ron of Johnston City, Jim Cargal and wife Linda of Johnston City, Sandra K. Hughes of CA, Mark Hughes and wife Cindy of CA, and Michelle Pearce and husband Barry of Chicago; 8 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; two son-in-laws, Joe Cargal of Johnston City, and Stanley Hughes of Arizona; and one sister-in-law, Lucille Smith of Johnston City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughters, Dorla Cargal and Marian Hughes; one great granddaughter, Sandra Pearce; two sisters, Fannie Owens and Jewel White; and three brothers, Arvil Smith, Clarence Smith, and Jurvy Smith.

As per her wishes there will be no visitation. There will be a graveside service at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 14 at Becker Cemetery in Johnston City. Murman and Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Envelopes will be available at the cemetery.
