IVAN "CURLY" HARRIS
Corinth–Ivan "Curly" Harris 92 of Corinth passed away at 4:25 A.M. on Monday October 31, 2011 at the Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin.
Curly was born on September 22, 1919 in Williamson County the son of Edgar and Maudie (Smith) Harris. He married Wanda (Stewart) on September 29, 1940 in Jackson, MO. She preceded him in death on September 30, 2005.
Curly was a retired coal miner, last working for Old Ben Coal Company. He was a member of the U.M.W.A. He last attended the Corinth Christian Fellowship Church. He was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was a former trustee of the #8 Cemetery for several years.
He is survived by a son, Donnie Harris and wife Sue of Corinth; a granddaughter, Heather Tate and husband Danny of Galatia; two special great granddaughters, Sydney and Keeley Tate; three sisters, Golda Beers of Corinth, Reva Smith of Corinth; and Earlene Hendrickson of Marion; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Atwood of Benton and Edith Harris of Johnston City; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Olive Stewart and Sylvia Anderson; and three brothers, Ira, Irvin, and Marvin.
Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday November 3, 2011, at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Rev. John Howatt officiating. Interment will be in the #8 Cemetery east Johnston City. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children or the #8 Cemetery. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
