JAMES "JIMMY" A. STEFAN

Marion-James "Jimmy" A. Stefan 53 of Marion passed away on Friday February 24, 2012 at 6:55 A.M. at the Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday February 29, 2012 at the St. Paul's Catholic Church in Johnston City with Msgr. Ken Schaefer officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at the church. Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of the United States. Envelopes will be available at the church.

Jimmy was born on July 15, 1958 in Marion the son of Tony and Lucille (Deaton) Stefan. He married Myra (Wiseman) on June 23, 1989 in Paducah, KY. She survives.

He was a member of the St. Paul's Catholic Church. He worked for Williamson County Highway Department since 1982. He attended St. Paul's Catholic School and Johnston City High School. He also attended John A. Logan on a baseball scholarship. He loved animals and over the years put much time and effort in caring for and feeding strays. He did a lot of volunteer work over the years and he never hesitated to step up and donate his time to help when any one needed it. He loved to cook and feed people and was a master on the grill. He was a loving and devoted husband and had a genuine caring heart for others.

He is survived by his mother of Johnston City; two daughters, Heather Johnson and husband Rodney of Marion and Meredith Thomas and husband Daryl of West Frankfort; three grandchildren, Justin Grant, Rheagan Clutts, and Jade Thomas; two brothers, Tony Joe Stefan and wife Sharon of Johnston City and Mike Stefan and wife Melanie of Carterville; one sister, Linda Stefan of Woodlawn; several nieces and nephews; many friends; and beloved cat, Tommy.

He was preceded in death by his father.
