James Lendell
Clark
Sep 20, 1941 — May 1, 2023
JAMES LENDELL CLARK
James "Lendell" Clark was a beloved great grandpa "pappy", grandpa "pappy & papa", father,
brother, uncle and friend to many during his 81 years of life. He passed away peacefully at home
on his farm, on the morning of May 1, 2023.
Lendell was born September 20, 1941 in Pittsburg, IL to Robert Eugene and Juanita Ailene
Clark. He graduated from Marion High School in May 1959. He had five children with Conna
Sue Clark. Lendell retired from the coal mines to go onto owning his own trucking company,
hauling produce to start from California to Canada, building his fleet up to 4 trucks, scaling
down to just one and ending his trucking career with an end dump.
Lendell was always an avid horse lover and musician. He loved taking a horse no one wanted
and making it worth something. He was always buying, selling, and trading.
Lendell started playing the guitar at a very young age. He played all different kinds of venues.
He was known for his sound that mimicked Waylon Jennings. Lendell played the guitar until just
a few weeks before his death.
Lendell found great joy in spending time with his great grandchildren, even facetiming in his last
few days and meeting the newest one. Lendell could be found chasing Randy down in every hay
field in the area. He had a gift of being able to find Randy even if no one else had a clue where
he was.
Lendell was survived by his children Kristi (Poncho) Stennett, Kelly (Vint) Compton, James
"Randy" (Michelle) Clark, Kendra (Alan) Baker, and step-daughter Cassie (Daniel) Johnson. As
well as his grandchildren, Ethan and Marshall (Jackie) Stennett, Nicole and Emily (Brandon)
Knight, Maci (Stephen) Elliott, James "Cody" Clark, Cailey Clark and Max Edwards, Justin
Clark and Hannah Frailey, Rachel Baker, and Dallas Johnson and several great grandchildren.
He is also survived by his brothers Richard (Brenda) Clark, Larry (Marilyn) Clark, and his sisters
Brenda (Dave) Verble, Louann (Jim) Anderson, Susan (Larry) Hearn, and Pam (Mick) Richard
and several nieces and nephews.
Lendell was preceded in death by one daughter, Kerrie Jo Clark, his parents Robert and Juanita
Clark, and one brother, Keith Clark.
