JAMES "JAY" HOOPER III

Johnston City–James "Jay" Hooper III passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at home.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday January 10, 2025 at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Keith Owens officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery of Johnston City. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 2:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.

Jay was born on July 4, 1963 in Highland Park the son of James Edward Jr. and Jacqueline Sue (Tolbert) Hooper. He married Toni Kay (Wagner). She survives.

Jay was a truck driver and an avid drag car racer and fan. Most weekends he could be found in the race car garage with his father and friends.

He is survived by his father; one daughter, Tabatha (Hooper) Tolbert; a step-daughter, Corissa Arview; two sisters, Becky Logan and Deena Vinson and husband Vince; and several nieces

He was preceded in death by his mother.
