JAMES HAROLD DICKERSON

Marion–James "Jim" Harold Dickerson 83 passed away at 11:53 A.M. on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at the Heartland Reginal Medical Center in Marion.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday December 7, 2022, at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Kevin Edwards officiating. Burial will be in the Somers Cemetery of Thompsonville. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M to 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Jim was born and raised in Franklinton, Louisiana, January 22, 1939. He was the first-born son to James Willard and Nellie Mae Dickerson and older brother to Leroy and Ronnie Dickerson.

He was an enthusiastic country music performer. He wrote and recorded several songs and albums. He was the lead singer and guitarist in his own band, "Jimmy Dickerson and the Hillbilly Playboys". Jim wrote songs about his life as a young father and work as an electrical lineman. Jim was an avid hunter and fisherman. He later worked as a home appliance repairman and over-the-road semi-truck driver. He was an entrepreneur, small business owner, and friend to many.

Jim is survived by his children, Sheila Kay (daughter) and Glenn Bradshaw of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, James Allen Dickerson (son) of Louisiana, Gina Carol McCoin (step-daughter) of Marion, Natalie Jaymes (daughter) and Michael Bilbrey of Herrin, Kelly Ann (daughter) and Randy Baggett of Herrin, Traci Dawn Rivera of Herrin, and Jerry Clifford (son) and Kristen Dickerson of Madison, Alabama; grandfather to seventeen and great grandfather to seven.
