JAMES WARDEN HUNTER
Herrin–James Warden Hunter 84 of Herrin passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 11:25 P.M. at the home of his step-daughter Judith Mason of Herrin with his loving family by his side.
James was born on October 30, 1926 in Williamson County the son of George C. and Nettie (Rogers) Hunter. He first married Leona (Jones) who preceded him in death in 1995. He later married Phyllis (Franklin) who preceded him in death in 2008.
James worked several years at the Prairie Farm Dairy in Carbondale. He was a veteran proudly serving in the army. He was a 50+ year mason of the Williams Lodge # 802 in Carterville. He was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Herrin
He is survived by four nieces, Dorothy Frye and husband Bobby J. of Johnston City, Nancy Edds of Johnston City, Patricia Milligan and husband Larry of Johnston City, and Barbara Wilson and husband Greg of Houston, TX, and several other nieces and nephews; a step-daughter and caregiver, Judith Mason of Herrin; a step-son, Richard Lucas of Naperville; a step-granddaughter, Lisa Gollhuir of Herrin; and two step-great grandchildren; two sister-in-laws, Marjorie Hunter of Johnston City and Ilene Jones of DeSoto.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two infant twins, Gerald and Geraldine; three brothers, Willie Hunter, Warner Hunter, Wallace Hunter; and one sister, Lillian Milligan.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday September 26, 2011, at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Rev. Jerry Ford and Rev. Jerry Schell officiating. Interment will be in the Becker Cemetery in Johnston City. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
