Janice Fay Blades, 78, formerly of Johnston City, left this life to enter the joys of Heaven on February 21, 2019, from her home in Cedar Hill, Tennessee. Janice enjoyed a full life of family, faith, and service to others, despite an enduring battle with illness and pain. Her love of God, penchant for teaching children, expertise with plants, generosity, creativity and craftiness left a lasting impact on countless individuals both here and in Tennessee. Janice possessed a lifelong love of learning.

Janice was born July 8, 1940, in West Frankfort, Illinois, to Jack S. and Reba Fay (Harper) Williams, now both deceased. She graduated from FCHS in 1958, and was married that same year to Leroy Blades, who preceded her in death. Janice was an active member of the Harmony Free Will Baptist Church as a teen and young adult, member of and active ministry participant in the Johnston City Free Will Baptist Church for over 30 years, and most recently a member of the Heads Free Will Baptist Church in Cedar Hill, Tennessee, where she led an afterschool girls' Bible study in her home. Throughout her lifetime, she taught in nursing homes, children's Bible Clubs, and women's groups.

She is survived by her three children, Sarah (Keith) Fletcher of Johnston City, John Blades of Ashland City, Tennessee, and David (Cynthia) Blades of Cedar Hill, Tennessee. Grandchildren include Aaron Fletcher (Marissa), Jesse Fletcher (Lillian), Hannah Fletcher-Page (Daniel), Leigha Ramos (Eden), Lewis Blades, Samuel Blades (Courtney), Autumn Romain (Akelam), Catherine Blades, Nathan Blades, and Diego Lanius.  Three great-grandchildren, Michael Ramos, Amelia Ramos, and Penelope Page, brought her greatjoy. Janice extended her family ties to also include Suba, Grace, Isiah, Olivia, and Alakai Soroba, and Ambrosio, Jennifer, Brylee, and Axell Ramos. Anyone who walked in her door was considered family.

Janice was the oldest of six children. All of her siblings survive. They include Jack R. (Geri) Williams, Russell (Linda) Williams, Nancy Mosley, Fred Williams, and Ruie (Rick) Whitecotton.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Keith Fletcher, officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 25, 2019, from 5-8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
