JEWELL NELL SMITH

Johnston City-Jewell Nell Smith 96, of Johnston City, passed away 3:30 Wednesday December 2, 2020 at her home.

A drive by window viewing will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, December 4, at her family home located at 15717 Liberty School Road, Marion 62959.

A private family service will be held Saturday at Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Curtis Smith officiating with Burial to Follow at Number 8 Cemetery in Pittsburg.

Jewell was born May 10, 1924 in Johnston City, the daughter of Elbert and Lilly (Lawrence) Avery.

Jewell was a homemaker and attended Harmony Free Will Baptist Church

She is survived by 2 sons David R. "Dick" Smith and wife Janet of Johnston City, Stephen M. Smith and wife Joyce of Johnston City; 4 daughters, Jenell Brookhouse and husband Charles of West Frankfort, Geneva Walker of West Frankfort, Janice Parks and husband William of Johnston City, Gloria Sears and husband J.R. of Marion; 41 grandchildren; 105 great grandchildren; 62 great great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Evelyn Mahan and Peggy Brotherton.

She was preceded in death by her husband Warner Smith; her parents; 3 sons Darryl Smith, Jerrall Smith, and Joel Smith; 2 grandsons Thomas Eron Smith and Dennis Ray Smith; 5 great grandchildren; a brother Lavern Avery; a Sister Arlie Dean Williams; two sons-in-law Deon Walker and Dwight Tanner; a daughter-in-law Bonnie Smith.
